Collaboration with Andy Munro

Andy Munro has built a substantial reputation in the field of acoustics and sound system design.

His career started while working in a HiFi store to finance his mechanical engineering studies in London. This resulted in a job offer with Shure Bros. Inc. and a training course in Transducers and electro-acoustics. After five years working with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and sound companies such as Clair Brothers and Showco Andy decided to start his own consultancy service specialising in recording studio design and loudspeaker development.

Munro Acoustics rapidly became noted for cutting edge design with efficient project management and architectural skills as well as core knowledge of performance spaces and their acoustic behaviour.

Munro also founded monitor speaker company Dynaudioacoustics in 1990 and Studio construction company Form&Funktion in 1995.

The company expanded rapidly and began a long and successful association with Pinewood and Shepperton studios, Europe’s largest film production and facilities operation. This led to consultancy work with Buena Vista International (Disney) and Dolby. Munro designed Dolby’s own facilities in the UK and India.

Munro Acoustics was chosen to design many of the studios for the BBC New Broadcasting House, the world’s largest radio and television news broadcasting building.

After 40 years as company chairman and owner, Andy Munro sold his companies to the employees and took a well-earned sabbatical in Italy. He now operates as an Independent Acoustic Consultant with particular specialisation in film dubbing and post production.

Andy Munro is pleased to be associated with Studio Sound Services in Italy to offer a comprehensive service to the music, film and broadcast profession.
