Dolby Atmos Theatrical and Home Entertainment Hybrid Studio with Meyer Sound Bluehorn System.

The objective was a complete acoustic restyling of an outdated environment that required a significant performance upgrade.

 The Challenge

Working with very tight deadlines and as the focus was solely on internal acoustic treatment, the main challenge centered on maximizing performance with minimal thickness.

The room, not particularly spacious, imposed critical dimensional constraints for system integration, particularly for adhering to the necessary geometries (such as those required by Dolby DARDT) and managing the screen and seating arrangements.

 Solutions Adopted

Our team addressed the limitations by working on two fronts: acoustic engineering and integrated design.

• Targeted acoustic treatment: we utilized the limited space available to successfully integrate acoustic resonators, which are crucial for modal control and low-frequency management, ensuring the sonic accuracy essential for critical listening.
• Electroacoustic innovation: we optimized the frequency response with an unconventional subwoofer placement. The adoption of an in-line configuration (instead of the conventional subwoofer cluster placed one-third of the way across the width) yielded an extraordinarily positive acoustic result, ensuring better uniformity and sonic impact.
• Design and character: on the aesthetic front, respecting the request for a dark, uniform, and modern environment, we introduced a distinctive element: two undulating light cuts in an "S" shape on the side walls. This detail allowed us to give the studio a distinct and non-trivial character, demonstrating that even a conceptually simple solution can be highly effective in terms of both visual and technical impact.

The Outcome

The project achieved very positive acoustic feedback, exceeding initial expectations. Studio E has been transformed into a high-performance, functional environment with a modern aesthetic, confirming our methodology which combines speed of execution with the precision of the technical result.
