Studio Sound Service handled the comprehensive acoustic design of the new Cesena "Bufalini" Hospital, collaborating once again with Studio Altieri as Lead Designer in a project of high technological complexity and important representative and symbolic value for the urban context. The intervention required a multidisciplinary approach, with an in-depth preliminary study of the acoustic aspects of the site, located northeast of the urban center in an expansion area currently predominantly agricultural with buildings of limited volume. The design included a careful study of the acoustic impact to predict and mitigate the sound effects of the hospital complex on the surrounding environment, taking into account the numerous constraints of the area and the future connection infrastructure at provincial level. Particular attention was dedicated to the passive acoustic requirements of the buildings, designed in compliance with the latest regulations and Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM), ensuring high standards of sound insulation in all structures. A central element of the intervention was the evaluation and mitigation of mechanical systems noise, a fundamental aspect in the hospital environment to ensure the acoustic well-being of patients and the operational efficiency of medical and paramedical staff. The design of the internal acoustics optimized acoustic comfort in all environments, from inpatient areas to common spaces, from outpatient clinics to operating rooms, with specific solutions for each type of space based on its function and needs. This integrated approach to acoustic design has contributed to creating a state-of-the-art facility that balances high healthcare standards with environmental comfort, an essential element for patient well-being and the quality of work for healthcare providers.
