The villa features a central hall, Sala dei Giochi, which is now used as an auditorium for Conservatory lectures and concerts. It had complex acoustics because of the central skylight that focused sound toward the center of the hall. It was treated with broad-band absorbers to contain low frequencies and with Plexiglas canopies to eliminate the phenomenon of sound focusing. The treatment is completed with a series of fire retardant velvet curtains that also give the ability to create variable acoustics in the room, which is useful for being able to play classical, opera, and even electronic works of music.

Formerly called Palagio dei Pini, Villa Favard di Rovezzano dates back to the late 1400s and was originally a fortified rural settlement of the Cerchi family. In 1855 the villa passed to Baroness Fiorella Favard de l'Anglade.

Suzanne Bacheville, the future Baroness Favard, an intelligent and cultured woman but not of noble birth, made her fortune in Paris and, having settled in Florence, commissioned Giuseppe Poggi to carry out the work of modernizing and beautifying the building and garden.

In the early 20th century a period of decline began for the villa, which saw it requisitioned and turned into a military hospital from 1917 to 1922. During World War II it was occupied by German troops, and after the war it was entrusted to the Opera Pia della Madonnina del Grappa (1949).

The park is currently owned by the City of Florence, and the villa has been a branch campus of the Luigi Cherubini Music Conservatory since 2009.
